Taylors Talk queenThe crowd cheered when Kaniz-e-Sakina Ladha from Africa was announced as the champion at Taylor's University College (TUC) elocution contest. Held recently for the first time at the university college's Subang Jaya campus in Selangor, the competition was part of TUC's effort to promote the English language to student in a fun way.

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, La ilaha ilallahu wallahu akbar, Allahu akbar wa lillahil hamd… In nine years since Khoja community students have been coming to pursue tertiary education in Malaysia, it was the first time Takbir-e-Eid was heard. Thanks to the opening of the Al Mawaddat Centre in Kuala Lumpur, it was also the first time ever an Eid Namaaz was congregated by the Khoja community in Malaysia. All this while, students would only gather for the Eid luncheon.

The President of the World Federation of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities, Dr. Ahmed Hassam, made his first official visit to the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Student Association Malaysia (KSISAM) in Kuala Lumpur with his family on 6th of January 2008. His visit was in conjunction with the Eid-e-Mubahila gathering that witnessed a participation of more than 50 people including students and visitors.

The Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Students at Malaysia had the privilege of having Alhaj Jaffer Dharamsi in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia who traveled thousand of miles from the United Kingdom to conduct two presentations, currently coordinated by him at the World Federation of KSIMC, on Sunday, 17 February 2008. The programme, held in conjunction with commemoration of wafat of Imam Hasan (A.S) and Bibi Sakina (A.S), and Thirtieth of Shahadat of Imam Hussein (A.S), ran as a full day programme from 10am to 5pm.

Kuala Lumpur, 21 January 2008

The Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Student Association Malaysia (KSISAM) organised the Muharram 1429 Azadari programme for the first 12 days in Kuala Lumpur. The gatherings were held on the 1st day and from the 7th night to the Ziyarat Majlis. Despite the distance and the commitments at the institutions, students traveled all over to Kuala Lumpur from their respective institutions some of which are located more than 30-50 km away from the city.
